Highland Electroplaters recently completed a two tone Xylan coated orientation key slider for use in a demanding engineering application.
For components like this, the coating is not only there to protect the surface. It can also support the way the part is identified, handled and used in service. The two tone finish gives the component a clear visual distinction, while the Xylan coating provides the low-friction surface properties required for smooth and reliable operation.
Xylan coatings are commonly selected for parts that need a combination of corrosion resistance, wear resistance and reduced friction. These characteristics make the coating well suited to offshore, subsea, oil and gas and wider industrial environments where components are exposed to challenging operating conditions.
Before coating, the condition and preparation of the component are critical. Correct surface preparation helps support coating adhesion and consistency, while controlled application and curing help deliver the required finish.
At our Aberdeen facility, Highland Electroplaters provides specialist coating and surface finishing services for customers who need dependable results on precision-engineered parts.
If you have a component that requires Xylan coating, PTFE coating or another specialist surface treatment, our team can advise on the right process for your application.
